Florida Specifics: The exam is administered by Prometric and costs $155 for both parts. It includes a 60-question written test (90 minutes) and a clinical skills test involving 5 randomly selected skills (31-40 minutes). Candidates must pass both parts within a two-year period. Failing either part three times necessitates completing a full 120-hour Florida-approved training program before retesting. Notably, Florida allows individuals to "challenge" the exam – meaning they can take it without completing a Florida-approved training program, provided they haven't already failed three times. This unique pathway potentially speeds entry into the workforce but places considerable weight on the exam as the primary measure of competency for these candidates.
